Forming a New Team
Forming a new team in the league is not as hard as it might sound. All you need is:
A group of 5-8 people. Each person in your group must be an APA member. Your group MUST have some beginner/novice players. Besides that, any group that enjoys spending an evening together playing pool is great!
A format. We currently have 8-Ball, 9-Ball, and Double Jeopardy. Double Jeopardy (DJ) isn't any different than 8-Ball and 9-Ball, but there is one division in each format. Your group forms a team in each division and the division schedules are identical so both teams are at the same location each week. Your group plays ten matches a week instead of five, so nobody has to sit out! DJ divisions are good for groups that want to play both formats but don't want to commit to two nights a week.
A day of the week when your group wants to play. It should be on a day when we offer your desired format in your desired area. You can see a list here of what we currently offer where. We can also add new nights/formats anywhere if there is enough interest!
A host location with room that is willing to host your team. This requires someone in your group to speak with someone at the host location and get their agreement to host your team. Each APA host location sets their own policies and fee for the use of the table. The only thing required by the league is that they dedicate a table to league when you're scheduled to play there.
Once you have the pieces in place, just
fill out this form
to let League Management know about your team. You will be added to the division and will be playing in no time!
